The new “Cost Allocation of Bundled Services” Order (DA 14-712, “CA Order”) released Friday. Basically, phones will no longer be allowed to be “given away” as part of a hosted VoIP solution. If they are included they will have to be cost allocated. This will be in effect for 2015 for new and existing contracts. This means that multi-year contracts where the phones were included from prior years will have to be cost allocated in 2015.

The goals of the E-Rate Program are simple:
- Increase access to advanced telecommunications services throughout the nation
- Promote the availability of quality services at just, reasonable, and affordable rates
- Provide availability of services to all consumers, including those in low income, rural, insular, and high cost areas
Did You Know:
- Since its creation in 1998 thru 2011, USAC has disbursed over $81 billion to support the goals of U.S. schools and their technology needs.
- The E-rate program and other funding sources are not tied to government funding or the Department of Education. All schools, that have less than $50 million in endowments and are not-for-profit, are eligible.
- Roughly $100 million is left unused by Private Schools every year.
- The E-Rate program has been around since 1997. E-Rate pays out over $8 billion dollars annually for all possible services.
